ALBANY, N.Y. – After a five-goal performance in his collegiate debut, Tehoka Nanticoke (Six Nations/Mohawk) has been honored as the Baltimore Sun Men’s Lacrosse National Player of the Week.
Yesterday, Nanticoke was also selected as the America East Offensive Player of the Week and the Rookie of the Week.
The freshman attack helped UAlbany earned a dominant 15-3 victory in the season opener at Syracuse. In his first-ever college game, he scored five goals, including four in the breakout third quarter, plus notched a ground ball and caused turnover.
Nanticoke’s five points are the most for a UAlbany freshman in his debut since Connor Fields had six points, off three goals and three assists, in his first game as a freshman at Drexel in 2015.
UAlbany will get set for its home opener on Saturday, February 24th at 12 p.m. against Drexel in Tom & Mary Casey Stadium.
