(Lawrence, Kansas) – The Haskell Indian Nations University men’s basketball team improved to (2-1) on the season, after winning their home opener 70-61 over the Central Christian College Tigers out of Kansas.
The Indians were paced by transfer sophomore Xavier “Sonny” Littlehead (N. Cheyenne/Navajo) who had a career high 16 points and pulled down 9 rebounds. Byron Elledge (Cheyenne/Arapaho) had 16 points as well for Haskell who played their second game in less than two days after traveling to University of Saint Mary’s in Leavenworth, Kansas on Tuesdasy where they picked up their first road win of the season. The Indians only loss comes from the defending NAIA National Champions Graceland University.
Rounding out the rest of the scorers for Haskell are: Nakai Hendricks (15 pts), Jordan Goodwill (8 pts), Antwon Winn (8 pts), Caison Green (6 pts) and Tristan Keah-Tigh with a point.
Next up for Haskell will be the Ernie Stevens, Jr Classic that will be hosted at Coffin Sports Complex. Southwestern Christian University and St. Thomas University – Houston will travel to Lawrence to kick off the first year classic.
