(Lawrence, Kansas) – The Haskell Indian Nations University women’s basketball team, who are (7-3) to start the season, are receiving votes in the first official NAIA Coaches Top 25 poll that was released this week. Off to a hot start this season, the young and talented Lady Indians squad only losses this season are to No. 12 ranked Hastings (twice) and No. 13 ranked Sterling College.
As a team, Haskell is ranked seventh in NAIA Division II in total steals (131), eighth in turnover margin (7.9), 10th in steals per game (13.1), 17th in 3-pt field goals made per game (8.5), 18th in total 3-pt field goals made (85), 20th in free throw percentage (.730), 36th in scoring margin (9.7), 39th in scoring offense per game (72), 40th in 3-pt field goal percentage (.327), 40th in total scoring offense (720), 41st in field goal percentage (.415), and 43rd in scoring defense per game (62.3).
Kasey Rice leads HINU in scoring (14.1) and blocks (1.3). Cherelle Speen is the team’s leader in rebounding (5), Janee Bates leads Haskell in assists per game (2.3), and Sierra Penn is HINU’s leader in steals per game (2.3).
Rice is also ranked 33rd in NAIA Division II in blocks per game (1.3), 37th in free throw percentage (.821), and 43rd in total blocks (11). Paige Dale is ranked 46th in assist/turnover ratio (2).
