WINNEBAGO, Neb, — Little Priest Tribal College sophomore Talia Paytiamo (Acoma Pueblo) has been named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Women’s DII Basketball Player of the Week, in results released today by the league office.
The 80-42 victory over Ellsworth CC was not the only impressive part of this game. Paytiamo was all over the floor as she finished with a career high 29 points. She also snatched 13 rebounds and even added four steals to her conference-leading 46 on the season. She recorded her second straight double-double and the third of her career.
The honor marks Talia’s first ICCAC Player of the Week award this season and the third for a member of the Little Priest women’s basketball program.
Paytiamo leads the ICCAC in steals (3.1 spg) and ranks No. 10 in the league in scoring (14.0 ppg) entering this week’s action. She is currently averaging 14.0 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 2.9 apg, 3.1 spg and 1.1 bpg while shooting 42.0% from the field and 32.3% from the 3-point line.
Paytiamo crossed the 500-point mark last week and currently ranks No. 2 in school history with 512 points. Her 98 steals also ranks second in program history and her 289 rebounds and 51 blocks currently holds the career school record.
