STILLWATER—The Oklahoma State men’s basketball team got back in the win column by beating South Carolina, 74-70, on Saturday in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Thomas Dziagwa tied his career high in both scoring and 3-point makes. The junior captain scored 19 points and made five 3-pointers.
Lindy Waters III (Kiowa/Cherokee) sealed it for the Cowboys (9-11) down the stretch. He scored OSU’s final four points, including two free throws to ice the game. Overall, Waters III scored 17 points and collected six rebounds. With the final free throws, he has now made 21 consecutive shots from the charity stripe.
The game between OSU and South Carolina (10-9) was back and forth and saw 22 lead changes.
The Cowboys got out to a hot start, going on a 15-2 run that began with 14:18 remaining in the first half and lasted until the 8:57 mark of the first half. The Gamecocks started the second half with a 6-0 run of their own, but from that point on, OSU fought back against every South Carolina bucket.
Cameron McGriff scored 14 points and grabbed four rebounds. He also knocked down six of his seven free-throw attempts.
Yor Anei almost earned a double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds. Anei also blocked three shots. With that performance, he has now blocked at least three shots in seven games this season.
The Cowboys led at half and are now 9-3 on the season when taking the lead into halftime. They are also 4-2 in the Big 12-SEC Challenge, including a 3-0 mark at home
