PORTLAND, Ore. – Idaho men’s basketball struggle to get going on Saturday night, falling to Portland State, 69-53, in a Big Sky matchup.
THE GAME
The Vandals got out to a strong start, led by Trevon Allen (Umatilla/Nez Perce) with a pair of early 3-pointers. The score would remain close, with Khadim Samb leveling the game at 18 apiece with 11:03 to play in the first.
The Vikings went on a run from there, scoring the next 14 points over nearly seven minutes to build their lead. Cameron Tyson would end the run with a 3-pointer late in the half, but the Vandals would trail at the break, 40-23.
Portland State kept things going into the second half, keeping the Vandals at bay throughout. The Vikings would go on to earn the win, 69-53.
Scott Blakney had a strong night, finishing with 12 points and seven rebounds.
THE NAME
Trevon Allen. Allen scored eight points early for the Vandals early and helped engage the offense. He finished the night with 12 points, three rebounds and five assists, while committing just one turnover.
