There was a definite lack of suspense when the Lower Columbia women’s basketball team hosted Pierce on Wednesday February 13th.
LCC took a 19-0 point lead at the outset and went on to smash the Raiders 86-48 at Myklebust Gym.
Not only did the Red Devils cruise to the victory, but they learned that Centralia lost which put LCC alone in first place at 8-2.
There were plenty of stars in the win over Pierce. Nizhoni Wheeler (Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe) scored the first three buckets of the game and finished with 22 points.
Madeline Jacobson had one of the best games of her freshman season as she came off the bench and scored 14 points with eight rebounds, two assists and three blocks.
Emily Packham had 12 points and Kenya Lorton added 10.
Jerri Maluyo had a solid floor game with eight points, five rebounds, seven assists and three steals.
The Devils shot 51 percent from the floor, despite hitting just 2 of 14 from long distance.
