CHICAGO (GreenBayPhoenix.com) — After trailing by 19 points at halftime, Green Bay flipped the switch to outscore UIC 43-23 in the second half en route to a 63-62 win on Friday night at Credit Union 1 Arena on national television. With the resilient comeback win on the road, the Phoenix (9-6 HL, 15-13) takes over sole possession of third place in the Horizon League standings, while also picking up the season sweep over the Flames (8-7 HL, 14-14) in the process.
Senior Sandy Cohen III (Onieda Nation) scored the go-ahead basket with 52 seconds left to break the 60-60 tie, grabbing an offensive rebound and putting it back it in. After a missed free throw with 15 seconds left, UIC pushed the ball up the court, electing to not call a timeout. Kameron Hankerson then broke through for a steal and GB was able to run out the clock from there.
GB, winners of five of its last six games, will visit IUPUI on Sunday afternoon for its final road game of the regular season. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
