Dominique Golightly (Kiowa) tabbed Southland Conference All-Academic Second Team

ABILENE – The Southland Conference Thursday revealed its Women’s Basketball Academic All-Conference Teams for the 2018-19 season, and tabbed to the second team were starting Wildcat guards Dominique Golightly (Kiowa Tribe) and Breanna Wright (Jarrell, Texas).

Golightly and Wright were the only juniors selected to receive this distinction as they were accompanied on the second team by three upperclassmen: Kamry Orr of Central Arkansas, Shania Woods of New Orleans and Victoria Miller, a graduate student at Northwestern State.

The Wildcats (23-10, 13-5 Southland) recently completed a historic season, which featured their third Southland Conference Championship in four years and a first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Golightly and Wright were among ACU’s key contributors throughout the entire campaign. The duo started all 33 games and combined for 897 points, 318 rebounds, 220 assists, 19 blocks and 88 steals.

Golightly is right there with her classmate in all four 3-point categories as she completed her year with 69 connections for a .314 percentage and average of 2.09 per game.

The 2018-19 season was the best by far for both Wildcat juniors. Golightly set career seasons highs with 13.4 points per game (442 points), 65 assists, 192 rebounds and .420 field-goal percentage, and established a few single-game highs with 26 points coming in a win at Sam Houston State and five assists in a home victory vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
