Hawai’i Pacific University hurler Jordan Curry (Navajo) Named PacWest Softball Pitcher of the Week Again

IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai’i Pacific University hurler Jordan Curry (Navajo) was selected the PacWest Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance last weekend in the Turlock Tournament of Champions.

Curry, a 6-0 senior from Farmington, N.M./Farmington, pitched three complete game shut outs in beating Simon Fraser 3-0, Central Washington 6-0 and Cal State Monterey Bay 1-0 in Turlock, Calif. She also pitched four innings of relief in the Sharks first game of the tournament in a 7-3 loss to Concordia Portland. Curry allowed two runs to CUP on Friday, then didn’t allow another plate crossing the rest of the tournament.

Curry was selected to the All-Tournament Team as she led the tournament with 25.0 innings pitched with a minuscule 0.56 ERA. She struck out 14 batters and allowed 14 hits. The gem of the weekend came on Sunday when she closed the TOC with a two-hit, two-walk performance in beating CSUMB 1-0. She struck out eight against Central Washington in a four-hit shutout on Saturday.

Curry is 17-6 on the season with 79 strikeouts in 150.2 innings pitched, with 18 complete games, seven shutouts and a combined shutout. She has four shutouts and the combined shutout in her last five starts.

This is Curry’s third Pitcher of the Week award this season to go with a Player of the Week award as well.
