EDMOND, Okla. – Three members of the Lincoln men’s basketball team scored in double figures, but the Blue Tigers dropped a 79-65 decision to Central Oklahoma on Monday night (Jan. 6).
Bansi King (Oneida Nation) led Lincoln with 24 points after shooting 8-for-16 from the field, including 7-for-12 from three-point range. Cameron Potts led LU with seven rebounds and seven assists while registering two steals and chipping in 17 points, and Marcel Burton provided 14 points to the Blue Tiger cause.
Lincoln (5-8, 2-2 MIAA) opened the game on a 7-2 run and led 10-4 with 12:08 to play in the half, but nine-straight points by the Bronchos led to UCO taking a three-point lead. King tied the game at 13 with a trey, and the teams exchanged 6-0 runs to make it a 19-19 affair with 4:50 until halftime. A three-pointer sprung UCO onto a 13-2 run, however, and the Bronchos took a 32-21 advantage into the break.
Burton opened the second half with a three-pointer, one of 11 in the game for the Blue Tigers, and Lincoln pulled to within 48-46 of Central Oklahoma (6-8, 3-2 MIAA) on a trey by King with 11:47 to play. UCO scored nine of the next 11 points, however, and prevented LU from coming any closer than within six the rest of the way.
DaMani Jarrett contributed four points while three Blue Tigers – L’Kielynn Taylor, Jordan Notch and Marcus Cohen – each finished with two points apiece. Taylor also had five rebounds while Notch pulled down two to go with a block and an assist. Cohen recorded two rebounds, two assists and a steal, and Zack Fields and DJ Ward each had an assist.
