Trinity Betoney (Navajo) recorded a school record 38 points as the Evergreen State College women’s basketball team defeated Northwest 88-77 in overtime Tuesday night.
The Eagles scored 23 points in the final quarter to tie the game and send it into overtime. Evergreen came out and scored all the points in overtime to take the win.
Betoney recorded a double-double for the game with her school recorded 38 points and had 12 rebounds. Betoney broke the school record of 36 set by Gabi Fenumiai on Jan. 17. 2016 against Walla Walla. Anna Cook recorded 21 points and Jerri Maluyo had 15 points.
Sam Van Loo recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Lexi Biggerstaff added 18 points.
Evergreen shot 54.5 percent from the floor to Northwest’s 37 percent. The Eagles recorded 18 turnovers and the Geoducks had 10 steals.
This is just the third win for Evergreen over the Eagles. NW won the last three matchups with the last win for the Geoducks coming on Jan. 9, 2018.
Evergreen is back in action on Friday and Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The Geoducks will face Eastern Oregon on Friday and College of Idaho on Saturday.
