MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho men’s basketball team fell, 71-68, to Montana State University on Thursday evening. The Vandals (5-10, 1-3 BSC) led at the half, but the Bobcats (9-7, 3-2 BSC) won the game of runs.

THE GAME
The Vandals jumped out to a 16-6 lead, but the Bobcats responded with a 10-0 run to tie up the game, 16-16. The rest of the first half was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to gain control of the game. Idaho led, 37-35, at the break.

The Vandals pushed their lead out to nine points, 57-48, with 8:41 remaining. However, the visitors would use an 11-0 run to take a 62-59 lead with three minutes to play. The final minutes of play contained four lead changes and three ties. The final tie and lead change came with 13 seconds remaining. After a pair of free throws by Trevon Allen (Umatilla) gave Idaho a 68-67 lead, the Bobcats’ leading scorer, Harald Frey, was fouled, making both his shots from the charity stripe. A shot by Allen would not fall in the waning seconds, and two more three throws sealed the victory for MSU.

Marquell Fraser led the Vandals with 22 points off the bench while also pulling down six rebounds, which was tied for the team high. Allen scored 20 points, while Jack Wilson had 10 points and six boards.
