Kama Hepa (Inupiat) Tied a Career-High as Texas defeats Kansas State, 64-50

AUSTIN, Texas — Junior guard Matt Coleman III registered a team-high 14 points, 4 assists and 3 steals to lead The University of Texas Men’s Basketball team (11-4, 1-2 Big 12) to a 64-50 victory against Kansas State (7-8, 0-3 Big 12) on Saturday night at the Frank Erwin Center. Texas held the Wildcats to a season-low 50 points, including just 23 points on 30.0% field goal shooting (9-30) in the decisive second half.

Sophomore guard Courtney Ramey tallied 11 points and a season-high 8 assists, and junior guard Jase Febres added 10 points and a career-high four blocks in the victory. UT set a team season high in blocked shots (9). The Longhorns converted 49-percent (24-49) from the field, including a 10-of-23 (.435) mark from three-point range.

Sophomore forward Kamaka Hepa (Inupiat) hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Longhorns a 31-27 advantage at halftime. He would finish with eight points for the game. Texas opened the second half on a 12-0 run to build a 43-27 cushion while holding the Wildcats scoreless until the 12:00 mark. The lead did not dip below 12 points for the remainder of the contest.
