CLINTON, Miss. — Junior TJ Ben (Mississippi Choctaw) has been named the Mississippi College Merit Health Men’s Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (Jan. 27).
Ben (Philadelphia, Miss.) scored a team-high 16 points, tying a season-high with four three-pointers against Alabama Huntsville on Saturday afternoon. He also chipped in six points in the tight road loss to Lee on Thursday night.
On the season, the Southwest MS CC transfer has battled injuries but is shooting over 50% from the three-point line and averaging 7.9 points per game. He has made multiple three-pointers in seven of his 13 games played this season with a season-high four in three contests.
Ben and the Choctaws will be home for a pair of GSC games this week, hosting Lee (Jan. 30) and UAH (Feb. 1) in A.E. Wood Coliseum.
Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and began competing for conference and national championships in the 2016-17 academic year.
