Illinois State Redbird Soccer Announces the Addition of I’yawa Brewer (Navajo/Cherokee) to the 2021 Recruiting Class

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State Soccer Coach Brad Silvey has announced the addition of a new Redbird to the 2021 recruiting class on Friday. I’yawa Brewer (Navajo/Cherokee) will be joining Sophie Veytsman (Arlington Heights, Ill.), Kasey Neidhardt (Highland, Ill.), Kristiana Pappanastos (Orland Park, Ill.), and Sydney Smith (St. Louis, Mo.) as the most recent player to sign a National Letter of Intent to attend Illinois State University and compete for the Redbird soccer team in the fall.

Defender | 5’10″| Lawrence, Kan. (Lawrence High School) | (Sporting Blue Valley) 

  • Starter for Sporting Blue Valley 
  • Starter for all years with KC Legends 
  • 4 year starter for Lawrence High School 
  • 2019 Midwest Region ODP Pool (All Star) Selection (Memphis, TN) 
  • Plans to major in Molecular and Cellular Biology 

“I’yawa is a remarkable person and a talented addition to our back line,” said Silvey. “She brings versatility within her playing background that will provide various options as to where she will impact our team the most. Her skill on the ball, passing range out of the back, and physical presence will fit perfectly into our system of play.”
