MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team staged a fourth quarter rally, but ultimately came out on the short end of a 60-56 loss at West Virginia in front of 2,220 fans inside WVU Coliseum.
The two teams exchanged the lead multiple times throughout the first quarter before the Mountaineers ultimately took a 13-11 lead after the first 10 minutes.
The Cowgirls used a 9-0 run in the second quarter to move in front 22-17. However, WVU used a 6-0 run to close the half and take a 34-28 lead at the break.
The Mountaineers extended the lead to 45-36 with two minutes left in the third before taking their nine-point advantage into the final stanza.
OSU got within one at 48-47 on a 3-pointer from Macie James and took the lead at 51-50 on a Lexy Keys (Cherokee) jumper with 4:17 to go. However, the Mountaineers used a 7-0 run to take control of the game again.
James matched her career high with 14 points and was joined in double figures by Keys, who had 13, and Lauren Fields’ 11 points.
