PALM DESERT, Calif. – In its third tournament of the spring season, the NM State men’s golf team finished the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate tied for third place.
Aidan Thomas paced the Aggies throughout the three-day event with a 211 (-5) to tie for fifth place in the event. The strong finish marks the second top-five finish for Thomas on the season.
Joseph Robson and Garrison Smith also picked up a pair of top-25 finishes as the dynamic duo tied for 20th. The pair both shot 217 (+1) while in Palm Desert and helped the Aggies succeed.
Round Three
- Matthew Jackman caught fire on the front nine, shooting five-under. Jackman birdied holes one, two, five, eight, and nine to pace NM State before the turn.
- Alvaro Morales, Aidan Thomas, and Garrison Smith both knocked down a pair of birdies on the front nine to get NM State off to a blazing start.
- As a team, the Aggies only bogeyed once before the turn.
- Both Thomas and Smith birdied on eighteen to chop a pair off of the team’s score.
- On the back nine, Joseph Robson shot a 35 (-1) to finish the day one-under.
