Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe announces Indigenous Boxing World Championship

Meeting of The Clans- Indigenous Boxing World Championship

Hinckley,  Minnesota- June 7, 2020 – The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe – Department of Athletic Regulation is pleased to announce The Meeting of the Clans- Indigenous Boxing World Championship to be held at the state-of-the-art Meshakwad Community Center in Hinckley, Minnesota, June 24-26 2022.

This amateur boxing tournament is open to all Tribal and First Nation members and descendants from the United States and Canada. All boxers must be registered with USA Boxing or Boxing Canada. Canadian Boxers will also need a letter from their Local Boxing Club (LBC) stating they are in good standing. Proof of tribal affiliation is required.  There are no registration costs for this event.

Grand Casino Hinckley is our host hotel and have offered a deeply discounted block of rooms using code MOTC642i on grandcasinomn.com. 

Registration will be Friday and Saturday with competition on Saturday and Sunday. Every competitor will receive a prize and each World Champion will receive a championship belt during our Awards Banquet on Sunday evening.

The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe – Department of Athletic Regulation is an award-winning sovereign combative sports commission founded in 2007. The commission is tasked with regulating professional boxing, mixed martial arts and other combative sports within the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe reservation and other tribal jurisdictions throughout the country.
