Kiiyani Anitielu (Navajo/Samoan) added a dozen points as Adams State roars past Fort Lewis

ALAMOSA, Colo.— Adams State’s women’s basketball team won its Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener on Thursday night here inside Plachy Hall by a score of 88-55 over visiting Fort Lewis College. 

ASU improved to 5-2 this season, while Fort Lewis slipped to 3-4, 0-1 in RMAC play.

Harmanie Dominguez led the Grizzlies with 21 points. Kiiyani Anitielu added a dozen, and Darlisha Reed contributed 10. Sharmayne Finley led the Grizzlies with nine rebounds. Reed contributed seven.

The Skyhawks’ top scorers were Lanae Billy, with 12 points, and Avery Evans, who added 10. Kelsey Sorenson had a team-high seven rebounds. Avery Evans pulled down six.
The Grizzlies led after each of the four quarters. ASU scored 47 of its points in the second half and allowed Fort Lewis to register just 21 points.  ASU shot 47 percent from the field and 31 percent from three-point range. Fort Lewis made just 30 percent of its tries from the floor and one-third of its efforts from long range.
