CHICAGO, IL – The Chicago State women’s basketball battled it out against the NC Central Eagles and suffered a 68-76 loss.
Despite the loss, four Cougars scored in double-figures as Hill finished with thirteen, while Norris and Willard each scored twelve, and Myers tallied eleven.
First Quarter – NC Central 23, Chicago State 16
- The Eagles opened up the scoring with a 4-0 run to stun the Cougars early
- Nonetheless, Chicago State bounced right back up as Norris made a beautiful jumper followed by a strong driving layup from Hill to tie the game
- The Eagles then scored three treys and three deuces as they ran away with a score of 19-8
- Chicago State then fortunately went on a 5-0 run featuring Deuces from the guard pair of Newell and Willard, along with a free throw made from Myers to reach a score of 19-13
- NC Central finished the quarter outscoring the Cougars 4-3 as they led 23-16
Second Quarter – NC Central 46, Chicago State 33
- The Cougars opened up the scoring with yet another trey from Myers and a deuce from Hill to now trail by two at 21-23
- However, the Eagles then went on a 21-4 run which completely stunned the Cougars as they now trailed by 15 at 42-27
- Fortunately, the Cougars managed to finish the quarter outscoring the Eagles 6-4 as they reached a score of 46-33
Third Quarter – NC Central 59, Chicago State 52
- Chicago State opened up the scoring with a deuce from Janiah Newell on a fast break, which was apart of a 6-2 start which also included layups from Norris and Haklicka to reach a score of 39-48
- The Cougars finished up ousting the Cougars 13-11 which kept the Eagles in the lead, however with the Cougars trailing close behind
Fourth Quarter – NC Central 76, Chicago State 68
- The Eagles opened up the quarter with a 5-0 run to slow the Cougars and lead by twelve at 64-52
- Chicago State then suddenly went on a 7-0 run with a trey from Willard, a layup from Hill, and two made free throws from Myers
- Unfortunately, the Cougars and Eagles then scored back-and-forth as neither team could defend which ultimately led to the Eagles taking the win at 76-68
