The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (7-3) bounced back and got a boost from its bench on Monday in a non-conference game at Arizona Christian University JV.
- The No. 12 ranked Aztecs topped the Firestorm 84-80 in Glendale.
- The Aztecs trailed 26-22 after the first quarter but outscored the Firestorm 22-10 in the second to take a 44-36 lead at the break. The Aztecs held a 61-58 lead entering the fourth quarter and outscored ACU JV 23-22 in the final quarter.
- The Pima bench scored 48 points and were led by sophomore Torrance Begay (Page HS), who finished with a team-high 21 points after going 10 for 16 from the field. She fell short of a double-double as she grabbed nine rebounds and also had three assists and two steals.
- Sophomore Luisa Chavez (Rio Rico HS) posted 14 points and six rebounds while sophomore Jaden Leslie (Dobson HS) added 12 points off the bench.
- Freshman Dominique Acosta (Nogales HS) dominated the glass as she finished with nine points and a team-high 13 rebounds. Sophomore Priscila Varela (Mesquite HS) closed out the game with seven points and nine rebounds.
