OKLAHOMA CITY, Jan. 18, 2023 – The Oklahoma City Blue (3-6) was defeated by the Stockton Kings (9-1), 118-113, on Wednesday afternoon at Paycom Center. Thunder two-way player Lindy Waters III scored a team-high 21 points on 8-of-16 FGs and grabbed five rebounds in the loss.
“Our guys are playing hard and playing together.” Head Coach Kameron Woods said. “We are on the right track and the path that we are following is the right one.”
A back-and-forth first half with 10 lead changes ended with Stockton holding a 60-59 advantage at the break. The Blue responded in the third frame, outscoring the Kings 30-24, to grab a five-point lead heading into the final frame. The Kings opened the first five minutes of the fourth on a 20-6 run to lead 104-95 and eventually captured the win despite multiple Blue comeback attempts.
Blue forward Robert Woodard II posted a 20-point, 17-rebound double-double. Teammates Jaden Shackelford and Scotty Hopson added 18 points apiece off the bench.
Stockton was led by Keon Ellis who scored 24 points on 8-of-14 FGs. Trey Burke added 22 points, six assists, and six rebounds.
Oklahoma City hits the road to face the Texas Legends on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m. CT at Comerica Center.
