(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Men’s Basketball team got a big win over the Mount Mercy Mustangs in Peru, Neb., on Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats are now 1-1 in the Heart of America Conference and 5-1 overall.
In the first half, the Bobcats had a slow start, letting the Mustangs keep the game close. David Wingett Jr. (Sr., Winnebago, NE), had a big first quarter after scoring the first points of the game. Wingett Jr., had 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Bobcats. Sayvon Traylor (Sr., Atlanta, GA) added nine points, three assists and two rebounds with Ajantae Hoga n (Jr., Lincoln, NE) adding six points in the half. The Bobcats led 36-20 going into halftime.
The Bobcats didn’t let up in the second half with David Wingett Jr., coming out after his big first half, had a made 3-pointer to start. Each member of the Bobcats saw court time in the second half with Luke Leev (Fr., Frisco, TX) being the leading scorer for the Bobcats with 13 points and three rebounds. Mathew Wingett (Sr., Winnebago, NE) had eight points and two rebounds, followed by his brother David Wingett Jr., having seven points and two rebounds. Ajantae Hogan also added Six points and two rebounds in the half.
David Wingett Jr., led the Bobcats with 24 points, nine rebounds and five assists in their matchup over the Mustangs. Sayvon Traylor had 13 points with five rebounds and assists, followed closely by Luke Lee who also had 13 points and added three rebounds.
