Emily Robinson (Choctaw) Scores Career High 20 Points for ORU in Win over Arkansas

AYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Oral Roberts women’s basketball team defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks, 94-73 in Fayetteville, picking up their first Power Four win since the 2016-2017 season.

Taleyah Jones and Jalei Oglesby led the Golden Eagles offensively, racking up 23 points each. Jones tallied five rebounds, shooting 7-16 from the field while Oglesby shot 9-15 from the field, recording four rebounds and five assists off the bench. Emily Robinson crept behind Oglesby and Jones tallying 20 points on 8-16 shooting to go along with five rebounds and five assists. Tonight marked the first time the Golden Eagles had three players score 20+ points in a single game since the 2018-19 season (vs. Central Christian).

Makyra Tramble opened the game with a triple, setting the tone for the historic night. Shortly after, a 4-0 run from the Razorbacks wasn’t enough to thwart ORU as back-to-back Taleyah Jones and Emily Robinson three pointers, gave ORU a four point advantage. Showing off their dominant offensive efforts early, the Golden Eagles shot 50% from the field and 45.5% from three in the first quarter, jumping out to a 26-18 lead.

Jalei Oglesby dominated the floor in the second quarter, scoring 12 of the Golden Eagles’ 16 points in just eight minutes. Oglesby shot 5-7 from the field, 2-2 from the stripe and tallied three boards in the quarter. Despite the strong bench performance, Arkansas outscored the Golden Eagles in the quarter, scoring 17 points. What was once a 12 point lead, was cut to seven as the ORU headed into the break.

Whatever Head Coach Kelsi Musick said in the locker room worked as the Golden Eagles shot 10-17 (58.8%) from the field and 3-6 (50%) from the arc in the third quarter. Emily Robinson caught fire, logging 10 points, two assists and a block in just eight minutes. Taleyah Jones also got hot, knocking down two threes and two boards in the quarter. Jones hit a buzzer-beating three to end the quarter as ORU jumped out to a 69-57 lead after three.

Taleyah Jones seemed unstoppable in the fourth quarter, making plays all over the court. She logged 9 points on 100% shooting (2-2 FG, 4-4 FT) to go along with two rebounds and a block. Back-to-back fouls drawn by Jones secured four free throws for the Golden Eagles followed by an Oglesby layup and Jones triple (8-0 run). This sealed the game for the Golden Eagles as they picked up their first win over the Razorbacks since the 2016-17 season.
