Sheboygan, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women’s basketball team used a fast start to help them defeat Lakeland University (Wis.) 93-54 Saturday afternoon.
- The Eagles opened the game on a 13-2 run and never trailed in the contest. UWL’s defense held Lakeland to just six points in the first quarter. Kailee Meeker scored eight points in the opening period as UWL led 23-6 at the end of the first quarter.
- UWL would score 11 of the first 12 points of the second quarter to take its largest lead of the first half 34-7 (6:08). UWL scored the final five points to lead 44-18 at halftime.
- UWL kept the pressure on in the third quarter as they erupted for 31 points. After an Alexis Johnson jumper for Lakeland made it 48-20, UWL went on a 24-7 run to take its largest lead of the game at 70-27 with 2:46 left in the third quarter.
- After holding the Muskies to just 18 points in the first half, Lakeland scored 18 points in both the third and fourth quarter.

- Lindsey Knuth and Katie Waukau came off the bench to lead the Eagles offensively as they each scored 13 points.
- Also in double figures for the Eagles was Ali Sprangers and Meeker as they each added 10 points.
- Sprangers led the Eagles with 11 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season.
- As a team, UWL shot 35-of-64 (54.7%) from the floor including 11-of-26 (42.3%) from the three-point line. The Eagles were also 12-of-16 (75%) from the free throw line.
- Johnson led the Muskies with 10 points and five steals while Halle Boldt added six points and seven rebounds.
- Lakeland finished the game shooting 15-of-60 (25%) from the floor including two-of-15 (13.3%) from the three point line. The Muskies also shot 22-of-31 (71%) from the free throw line.
