NICEVILLE, Fla. – The No. 23/21 Alabama women’s basketball propelled past Alabama State, 83-33, in game one of the Emerald Coast Classic on Monday. With the victory, the Crimson Tide (7-0) advance to the championship round of the Bay Bracket.
Four Alabama players collected double figures, including Aaliyah Nye with a team-leading 15 points. Sarah Ashlee Barker and Karly Weathers both scored 12 points, while Zaay Green collected 11 points and four assists to surpass 400 career assists.
JeAnna Cunningham collected a career-high nine rebounds, while Essence Cody, Diana Collins and Barker all grabbed five boards apiece to total 24 of the team’s 43 rebounds. The Tide finished with 17 total steals, highlighted by three each from with Nye and Weathers.
