Bismarck State women’s basketball coach Kylee Wilson hit the jackpot when she got Sasha Golus to sign a letter of intent.
Golus, a 5-foot-10 freshman from Belcourt, turned out to be a wise signing. She was named the most valuable player of the Mon-Dak Conference on Monday. Golus also headed the list of first-team selections. The awards are picked by the coaches in the conference.
Joining Golus on the first team are Ryan White Bull of United Tribes and Kaylin Sheets of NDSCS-Wahpeton. Sheets is from Moffit.
Malik Wood was the lone Bismarck State selection to the men’s first team.
Golus helped lead Bismarck State to a third-place finish in the Mon-Dak with a 6-4 record. The Mystics (23-7) are ranked No. 16 in the latest NJCAA Division II poll.
Golus finished the regular season averaging 17.4 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.
