GUNNISON, Colo. – November 8, 2014 – The Fort Lewis College cross country teams competed Saturday morning in the 2014 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Western State Colorado University at Gunnison Community School in Gunnison, Colo. All 15 RMAC teams competed in the championship race, including South Dakota School of Mines.
The Skyhawks men’s team earned 223 points for eighth place. Christian Gering (San Felipe Pueblo) earned All-RMAC first team honors after finishing in the top 14.
Gering’s 8K time of 26:52.30 placed him 14th overall. He was followed by Garrett Sapakoff (53rd place, 28:06.80), William Scoggins (57th place 28:11.60), Tate Lagasca (60th place, 28.17.20) and Michael Walker (61st place, 28:18.70) as the Skyhawks top five scorers. Also competing in the championship race for the Skyhawks were Joey Brenner (69th place, 28:38.90), Ryan Mott (72nd place, 28:54.80), Derek Laue (90th place, 29:37.90) and Zach Chenoweth (98th place, 30:03.00).
The Skyhawks next race will be Nov. 22 at the NCAA South Central Regional. Metro State University of Denver will host the race at Washington Park.
