STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team closed out its exhibition slate on Sunday afternoon with an 87-53 victory over Arkansas-Monticello in front of 1,429 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Cowgirls owned a decided advantage inside, outscoring the Cotton Blossoms by a 54-14 count in the paint on their way to the program’s 18th consecutive exhibition victory.
Leading the way for the Cowgirls was freshman Kaylee Jensen who led all scorers with 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the floor. The Genoa, Neb., native also grabbed 10 rebounds to go with four steals, two blocks and one assist in just 18 minutes of action. Lakota Beatty (Lakota/Caddo/Gros Ventre) had 6 points and 3 assist for the Cowgirls in 21 minutes of play.
OSU hit 54 percent of its shots in the first half while holding UAM to a 31.6 percent clip from the floor. The Cowgirls led 52-22 at the break.
Jensen, who scored 12 of her points in the second half, was one of four Cowgirls to score in double figures.
Sophomore Roshunda Johnson added 14 points and five steals, while junior Brittney Martin had a 12-point, 6-steal performance. Senior Liz Donohoe also scored 12 points on just five shot attempts.
The Cowgirls will get their regular season underway on Friday when they host Loyola Marymount at 11 a.m. in Stillwater.
