LUBBOCK, Texas — Amber Battle scored a career-high 33 points and hit six, 3-pointers to lead Texas Tech to a 73-57 win on Wednesday night at United Supermarkets Arena.
It was the first time since 2013 that Tech has completed the season sweep of a team. Battle is the only Lady Raider to score 30 or more points in a game since 2007, topping her previous high of 32 last season against Kansas State.
Tech (13-7, 3-5 Big 12) shot 60 percent from the field and was 6 of 13 behind the arc in the second half. The Lady Raiders opened it up with a 12-2 run after leading 29-27 at halftime and would take as much as a 19-point lead.
Senior Kelsi Baker added nine points, nine rebounds and seven assists while Ivonne CookTaylor and Jamie Roe (Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma) finished with eight points and five points, respectively, off the bench. Roe also added eight rebounds including five on the offensive glass.
West Virginia (12-8, 2-6) pulled to within 10 points after an 8-0 run with 4:34 to play but never came any closer. Tech closed the door by outscoring the Mountaineers 13-7 the rest of the way and held leading scorer Bria Holmes (20.2 points per game) to 17 points on 6 of 17 shooting.
The Lady Raiders finished the game 10 of 23 from behind the arc. They’ve hit seven or more threes in the last three games and are shooting 41 percent from 3-point range (25 of 61).
Tech will host Kansas State (12-7, 2-6) at 3 p.m., Saturday.
