Casey Rarrick (Osage Tribe) Named WAC Player of the Week

Grand Canyon University freshman guard Casey Rarrick (Osage Tribe) was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Rarrick, in wins over Kansas City and Chicago State last week, shot 52 percent from the field and averaged 21.0 points per game. Rarrick became the first Lope to score 20-plus points in a game when she came off the bench and scored 22 in Thursday’s 65-59 win at Kansas City. Rarrick went 6-of-13 from the field, including 5-of-11 from three-point range. She also had a career-best three steals.

On Saturday, in a starting role, Rarrick had 20 points and a career-best six three-pointers. She went 7-of-12 from the field and was 6-of-10 from beyond the arc. She added another career-best with five assists.

She was also selected the CollegeSportsMadness.com WAC Player of the Week.

With two wins last week, the Lopes improved to 3-3 in WAC play and are home for their next three games. GCU welcomes Seattle U to GCU Arena for a 7 p.m. contest Thursday and preseason favorite Bakersfield on Saturday for a 6 p.m. game.
