GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Continuing its effort for a 12th league tournament title in the last 17 seasons, the No. 1 seed Green Bay women’s basketball team will host No. 4 seed Youngstown State in the second semifinal on Friday night at the Kress Center at approximately 7:30 p.m.. No. 2 seed Wright State and No. 3 seed Cleveland State will play in the first semifinal at 5 p.m.
Green Bay (26-4) defeated No. 8 seed Milwaukee in the quarterfinals on Wednesday night, winning 74-62 to advance to yet another semifinal game. Kaili Lukan scored a season-high 24 points and the Phoenix knocked off its in-state rival for the third time this season.
Youngstown State (21-9) was able to fend off No. 5 seed Detroit at home in its quarterfinal game, running away with a 73-55 victory. The Penguins were powered by both Heidi Schlegel and Nikki Arbanas, who each scored 22 points in the win, helping YSU advance to its third-straight semifinal.
