(Parkville, MO) – The Haskell Indian Nations University women’s basketball team picked up their seventh win of the season to remain undefeated after easily knocking off the Park Pirates on the road by a final score of 67-40.
The Lady Indians were led by Tyler Sumpter (Paiute Tribe) with 17 points in the game. Sumpter was six for 14 from the field. Sumpter was also five for 11 from the three point field. Kortney Meat was not to far behind with 15 points of her own.
The Pirates took the lead in the first quarter 10-6 over Haskell. After the second quarter Haskell put up 25 points and the Pirates only put up eight points. The Pirates were trailing 31-18 at the half.
Haskell’s defense was led by Cheyenne Livingston with seven rebounds and two steals in the game.
Arnetia Begay finished with a game-high 10 assists and added 9 points for the Indians.
Haskell will be back in action again next week on November 24th when they return home to Coffin Sports Complex to take on the Baker Wildcats. The Indians will wear their Nike N7 Uniforms as part of Native-American heritage month activites at Haskell. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM CST followed by the Men’s team at 7:30 PM.
