Sandy Cohen III (Oneida Tribe) has Game-High 8 Assists & Adds 5 Points for Marquette who Beat Maine 104-67

MILWAUKEE – Marquette reached the 100-point threshold for the first time since 2013 in a 104-67 victory over Maine on Saturday afternoon at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Freshman forward Henry Ellenson scored a career-best 23 points for the Golden Eagles (6-2), while junior center Luke Fischer scored 20 of his season-high 21 points in the first half. Freshman point guard Traci Carter made all four of his shots from the floor and finished the day with 10 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals. Sandy Cohen III (Oneida Tribe of Wisconsin) dished a game-high 8 assists and added 5 points.

Marquette begin the day by scoring the first 22 points and never looked back as Ellenson posted a 9-0 run by himself in the midst of that stretch.

Kevin Little and Devine Eke each scored 15 points to pace the Black Bears (2-5).

Postgame Notes:

This was the fifth match-up all-time between both programs. With the win, Marquette improves to 4-1 all-time against the Black Bears and 13-1 all-time against opponents hailing from the America East Conference.

• MU’s 61 first-half points and 32-point first-half lead were both the largest first-half marks of the season. The Golden Eagles had previously led by 24 points after scoring 47 first-half points in its previous outing against Grambling State.

• After a largely back-and-forth start to the second half, MU went on a 7-0 run to stretch its lead to 38 points (82-44). Maine went on a 7-0 run of its own, which was snapped by a Wally Ellenson three-point field goal, his first from beyond the arc in an MU uniform.

• Henry Ellenson’s 23-point output set a new career-high for the freshman. His previous high was 21 points in MU’s season opener vs. Belmont. Ellenson also added four boards, two blocks and two steals.

Sandy Cohen, III recorded eight assists, a new career-high for the sophomore. His previous mark of five was done on two occasions, the last being in a win against Grambling State (12/2/15).
