Dominant Second Half Fuels Haskell Indian Nations University Women’s Basketball to Victory over Bethany College

via Haskell athletics

(Lindsborg, Kansas) – A three-point Bethany College lead at the break didn’t last long as Haskell Indian Nations University put on a dominating performance in the second half.  With a one-two punch of Tyler Sumpter and Arnetia Begay, HINU pulled away from the Swedes en route to a 73 – 53 victory on Friday in Lindsborg.

With the absence of Keli Warrior inside, Haskell had to rely on the outside shot early to stay in the contest.  Sumpter was perfect in the first half from the three-point arc as she drilled three straight and would go on to finish with a team-leading 17 points.  Begay was all over the floor as she contributed 12 points, five steals, and four rebounds. Justina Coriz was also in double figures for the Indians as she ended with 11 points on the night.

However, there’s very little time to rest for Haskell (12 – 2) as they return to the court on Saturday.  HINU is set to tip-off at 1 p.m. against NCAA Division II Rockhurst University in Kansas City.  For fans who can’t attend the game, it will be broadcast on the Hawks athletic website.
