Ashley Beatty (Caddo/Lakota) Scores 9 points for ORU in Win Over Omaha 67-65

OMAHA, Neb. – Kaylan Mayberry hit a 17-foot jumper at the buzzer to give the Oral Roberts women’s basketball team an exciting 67-65 win over Omaha Thursday night.

Both teams were hot from the field shooting above 40 percent, but it was the Golden Eagles only turning the ball over five times to help seal their fifth win in a row. ORU also stays tied at the top of The Summit League standings at 5-1 and 8-10 overall.

Mayberry led ORU with 19 points while adding three assists and four boards. Faith Ihim finished with 12 points and five boards as well. Ashley Beatty (Caddo/Lakota/Gros Ventre) had 9 points and pulled down 6 rebounds for the Eagles.

Omaha’s Mikaela Shaw scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down 10 boards to post a double-double in the loss.

TURNING POINT
Kaylan Mayberry pulled up just inside the three-point line and hit a 17-foot jumper as time expired to give ORU a two-point victory.

THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Kaylan Mayberry finished with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting and added three assists.
Omaha: Mikaela Shaw posted a double-double as she finished with 22 points and 10 boards.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
– ORU shot above 40 percent from the field for a second consecutive game.
– The five turnovers for ORU was lowest margin this season. The Golden Eagles turned the ball over just twice in the second half.
– With just four ties and three lead changes in the game ORU never trailed in the second half.
– Kaylan Mayberry led ORU in scoring for the seventh time this season.
– It was the first game-winning buzzer beater for ORU since Christian Key’s jumper against Southeastern Louisiana on Feb. 8, 2014.
