by JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Oklahoma City University turn-in the best finish in program history by placing sixth in the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships on Saturday at the David E. Walker Track at Gentry Field.
Arya Bahreini, David Mountford, Andrew Robling, Hunter Swink, Michael Vercoe-Curtis and Mackenzie Wahpepah-Harris (Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma) all received all-American honors. The distance medley relay team of Wahpepah-Harris, Robling, Swink and Mountford won the championship in the event

“We had some misfortune early on in the meet with Mackenzie not qualifying for the mile final and Hunter not qualifying in the 800-meter final,” said OCU head coach Conor Holt. “But I had a good talk with the boys about the pride in the program, having won the last three national cross country championships. The boys definitely stepped up today. Arya and Dave scored 22 points in the 3K and 5K double. Arya, three weeks after the marathon trials, this kid is a machine.”
The distance medley relay team clocked a 10:07.60 to beat Sooner Athletic Conference foe Bacone by 4.06 seconds. Swink became a two-time all-American as he earned honors in 2014 in the distance medley relay. Wahpepah-Harris nabbed his second track and field all-American accolade.
The Stars begin the Outdoor Track and Field season at the Texas Relays on March 24-26 in Austin, Texas.
