Gabby Barker (Shoshone-Paiute) Finished in 13th place for Texas Tech at Briars Creek Invitational

JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – The Lady Raiders finished in eighth place at the 2016 Briars Creek Invitational after shooting a 279 (nine under) in the final round of play at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek Tuesday. “I am proud of the way our team bounced back today,” said Texas Tech head women’s golf coach JoJo Robertson. “We got off to a slow start that was tough to recover from. Having the low round of the day today was a great way for us to finish and give us something to build on.”

Texas Tech played aggressively in round three, with three players scoring under par completing the competition with a combined score of 876 (12 over). The Lady Raiders finished behind No. 8 Florida (858), Indiana (869) and Clemson (870) who held the top three spots at the event.

Gabby Barker (Shoshone-Paiute) led the Lady Raiders carding 69 (three under) in round three, placing her tied for 13th at 217 (one over), jumping 23 spots on the leaderboard on the final day of play.

Mami Yamamoto and Kimmy Hill both scored an impressive 68 (four under) for the third round, moving them 40 and 33 spots on leaderboard, respectively.

Lauren Mason and Sarah Brown also finished strong for the Lady Raiders, carding a 223 (seven over) and 231 (15 over) for the competition.

The Lady Raiders will be back in action on March 28, as the team will travel to Kennesaw, Ga., to compete in the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate tournament hosted by Kennesaw State.
