Tamia Dockery (Navajo) named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Setter of the Week

NORFOLK, Va. – Howard volleyball’s Olubunmi Okunade, Morgan Marlbrough and Tamia Dockery (Navajo) took home Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) weekly honors, as announced by the league on Monday. Okunade was tabbed as the first Player of the Week for the 2016 season. Marlbrough was selected as Defensive Specialist of the Week, while Dockery earned Setter of the Week.

Okunade tallied 26 kills to go along with 16 blocks and a pair of digs in the Bison’s 3-0 weekend to kick off the season. The team defeated George Mason, Georgetown and American in the two-day D.C. Challenge. Her performance helped her get a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

Marlbrough’s played an integral part in Howard’s defense. With her help, the Bison held the Eagles and Patriots to .104 and .150 hitting percentages, respectively. So also tallied double figures in digs for each match, finishing with 4.50 digs per set.

Dockery accumulated 122 assists, 29 digs, eight kills and three service aces over the weekend. She had back-to-back matches with a double-double against Georgetown (40 assists, 12 digs) and American (49 assists, 11 digs). She also added nine blocks and averaged 10.1 assists per set on her way to being placed on the All-Tournament Team.

The Bison will host UMBC for its home opener on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. in Burr Gymnasium.
