MADISON, Wis. – Led by a game-high 12 points from senior point guard Bronson Koenig (Ho-Chunk Nation), the Wisconsin men’s basketball team got its 2016-17 season started with an 86-58 exhibition win against UW-Platteville at the Kohl Center on Sunday afternoon.
Koenig was joined by Nigel Hayes (10 points) and Jordan Hill (10 points) in double-digit scoring, as the three combined to tally 41 points and 9 rebounds.
As a team, the Badgers recorded 34 defensive rebounds to the Pioneers’ 21 boards. Sophomores Charles Thomas IV and Ethan Happ each demonstrated strong play on the glass and finished with 10 and 9 rebounds, respectively.
Trey Sigel tied Koenig with a game-high 12 points. Robert Duax also reached double figures for the Pioneers with 10 points.
Wisconsin tips off its regular season hosting Central Arkansas on Nov. 11 at the Kohl Center. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. (CT) and will air live on Big Ten Network.
