by NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team hosted No. 15 North Iowa Area Community College Saturday afternoon at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk. The Hawks fell in the showdown by a final score of 80-72.
Northeast (9-2, 2-1 ICCAC) led by as many as 11 in the matchup, but the Trojans were able to pull away late in the fourth quarter. Aaliyah Jones (Pine Ridge, S.D.) was the leading scorer for the Hawks as her 23 points and 14 from both Mia Wiederin (Norfolk, Neb.) and Clara Garrote (Salamanca, Spain) kept Northeast right with the nationally ranked NIACC squad throughout the entire contest. Northeast was aggressive defensively throughout the entire ballgame as they forced the Trojans in 21 turnovers compared to just 12 of their own
