LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State volleyball team began defense of its back-to-back Western Athletic Conference titles by sweeping Grand Canyon, 25-20, 25-10, 25-17, on Thursday night inside the Pan American Center.
The Aggies are now 1-0 in the WAC and have swept four-consecutive matches to move to 7-5 on the season. They have not lost a set after losing to Colorado State and BYU, two top-15 teams.
The NM State defense came up big again, holding the ‘Lopes to a negative hitting percentage during all three sets. Grand Canyon finished with a -.082 hitting percentage to the Aggies’ .240.
Outside Hitter Bradley Nash (Navajo) who was leading the team with 100 kills on the season had just 5 kills tonight but she also had 9 digs for the Aggies.
NM State continues WAC play on Saturday, Sept. 27, when it welcomes Bakersfield to Las Cruces. Game time on Saturday is set for 1 p.m. (MDT). The match can be heard live over local radio on KGRT AM 570 with Adam Young on the call.
