Allison Richards (Oglala Lakota) Explodes for 34 Points as Northeastern Beats Iowa Lakes, 84-78

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team took on Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa Wednesday. The Hawks grabbed the big conference victory by a final score of 84-78 in overtime.

The Hawks (8-4, 2-1 ICCAC) struggled out of the gate as they trailed 24-17 after the first quarter but closed that lead to just 35-33 at halftime. Northeast led 53-51 after the third quarter and looked to be in total control of the contest deep into the fourth quarter. The Lakers drilled a 3-pointer with 7.9 seconds remaining in the game to send the showdown to overtime.

Northeast didn’t let the late-game heroics from Iowa Lakes derail them as they came out firing in overtime and never let the Lakers get within striking distance in the extra period to seal the deal.
