Angelline Nageak (Inupiaq) Added 14 Points for Adams State Univerity in Win over Nebraska-Kearney

Hays, Kan. – Adams State women’s basketball team rallied in a tough contest against Nebraska-Kearney, clinching a 65-58 victory in their matchup Saturday afternoon. With this win, Adams State improved their record to 3-2 on the season.

The game remained tightly contested throughout, with several lead changes and tied scores. Adams State’s defense shone, forcing 24 turnovers and accumulating 17 steals, which translated to 21 points off turnovers. They also capitalized on fast breaks, scoring 18 points in transition.

Taejhuan Hill led the way for Adams State with a double-double performance, contributing 16 points and securing 12 rebounds. Angelline Nageak and Elaina Watson were also pivotal, each adding 14 points. Nageak’s accuracy from beyond the arc was notable, hitting 4 of 11 three-pointers, while Watson’s all-around play included 4 assists and 4 steals.

Nebraska-Kearney had a strong start, outscoring Adams State 19-15 in the first quarter. However, Adams State’s defense tightened up, holding the Lopers to just 11 points in the second quarter, allowing the Grizzlies to pull ahead with a 29-30 lead at halftime.

In the final quarter, Adams State’s resilience paid off as they managed to outscore Nebraska-Kearney 16-12, securing a seven-point win. Despite Nebraska-Kearney’s Meg Burns scoring a game-high 21 points, Adams State’s balanced scoring and defensive efforts proved to be the difference-maker in the game.
