Ashley Beatty (Caddo/Lakota) Scores 8 Points for ORU who Drop 77-69 Decision at EMU

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Oral Roberts women’s basketball team nearly overcame a 16-point deficit Tuesday night before falling late at Eastern Michigan, 77-69, in non-conference action.

The Golden Eagles made eight second-half three-pointers and finished with a season-high 12 treys to overcome a 16-point deficit. However, an 11-0 run by EMU allowed the home team to close out a game where they lead from start to finish.

Three ORU players finished in double figures led by Dorottya Balla’s 14 points, while Kaylan Mayberry hit four three-pointers to finish with 13 in the loss. Faith Ihim joined the trio with her first double-double of the season adding 12 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman guard Ashley Beatty (Caddo/Lakota/Gros Ventre) scored 8 points off of the bench for the Golden Eagles.

Janay Morton scored a game-high 25 points as Chanise Baldwin posted a double-double with 15 points and 14 boards.

TURNING POINT
ORU cut the EMU lead to just two points after a three-pointer from Dorottya Balla fell with 5:01 left in the game. EMU answered after a layup by Chanise Baldwin with 4:43 left that sparked an 11-0 as they never looked back in a 77-69 win.

THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Faith Ihim posted her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds while Dorottya Balla scored a season-high 14 points.
Eastern Michigan: Janay Morton led all scorers with 25 points as teammate Chanise Baldwin scored 15 points and pulled down 14 boards.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
– ORU made a season-high 12 three-pointers including eight in the second-half.
– Faith Ihim posted her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Maria Martianez finished with six points, nine rebounds and five assists in the game.
– The Golden Eagles out-rebounded EMU 43-41 as it was the first time this season ORU won the rebounding battle.

ORU continues its five game road swing next Thursday as they travel to Arkansas for an 8 p.m. tipoff. The game will be broadcast nationally on the SEC Network.
