FARGO, N.D. – The Oral Roberts women’s basketball team led from start to finish Saturday night to claim their third straight victory, 52-42, over North Dakota State in Summit League action.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early lead and took a 32-36 lead into the locker room at halftime. ORU continued to lock down on defense holding the Bison scoreless over for the final 6:48 of the game.
Career-highs from Blair Bryce and Ashley Beatty (Caddo/Lakota/Gros Ventre) helped propel ORU offensively as Bryce posted her first double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Beatty added 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting.
North Dakota State struggled offensively shooting just 28 percent from the field while no player scored in double figures for the Bison. Brooke Yaggie and Marena Whittle both scored nine points while Whittle added 12 boards.
TURNING POINT
North Dakota State pulled within one point with 3::45 left in the third quarter, however ORU answered with a 7-3 run to finish the quarter and build a 43-38 lead. The Golden Eagles held NDSU to just four points in the fourth quarter while also holding the Bison scoreless for the final 6:48 of the game.
THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Blair Bryce posted her first double-double with 16 points and four rebounds in the win. Bryce was also 6-of-9 from the field.
North Dakota State: Brooke Yaggie and Marena Whittle each tallied nine points while Whittle added 12 rebounds.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
– ORU held NDSU scoreless for the final 6:48 of the game but also ended the game on a 7-0 run.
– The Golden Eagles held NDSU to just 28 percent from the field. It was the third consecutive game ORU has held its opponent below 30 percent shooting.
– ORU out-rebounded NDSU 48-34 for the largest margin this season.
– Blair Bryce posted her first double-double of her career with a career-high in both points (16) and rebounds (14).
– Ashley Beatty tallied a career-high 11 points going 4-of-5 from the three-point line.
