Ashley Jones (Choctaw/Chickasaw) joins Charleston Southern Women’s Basketball coaching staff

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern head women’s basketball coach Clarisse Garcia announced the addition of Stephanie Stoglin-Reed and Ashley Jones (Choctaw/Chickasaw) to the coaching staff on Tuesday afternoon.

Jones brings 10-plus years of administrative and coaching experience within collegiate athletic departments and youth athletic organizations and has worked in multiple levels throughout her professional career.

“I am extremely grateful to join Coach Garcia and Buc Nation,” Jones said. “I believe in Coach Garcia’s vision for the program and excited to start this journey with her and the staff! It is a blessing to have an opportunity to work with a staff, team, and athletic department that believes in doing the little things every day to serve and lead. I can’t wait to get to work! GO BUCS!”

Prior to serving as a head coach and skills coach with the ATL Bucks Basketball program, Jones served as the Director of Basketball Operations, Head Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator for the Nike ProSkills EYBL Basketball from July 2016-2019. While working with Nike Basketball, she managed all travel logistics, social media, marketing, and analytical data systems for team rosters and recruiting submissions. She also served as the 17U National Head Coach.

Previous collegiate experience came from Oklahoma Wesleyan University where she served as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach, Recruiting Coordinator, and an Adjunct Professor at OWU. She served as the head women’s JV coach and handled scouting reports, game day coordination, and spread social media awareness of the program.

A licensed massage therapist, Jones served a clinical internship in 2016 and worked with LifeTime Fitness Dallas Athletic Club and Reform Ortho and Sports Rehab from 2017-2019. She is the current owner of Pawsh Therapy LLC Massage and Bodywork.

Jones graduated from Oklahoma Wesleyan University in December 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She added her MBA with an emphasis in marketing in December 2013. She furthered her education at the Steiner Education Group in Arlington, Texas, at the Texas Center for Massage Therapy, graduating in 2016.

“Ashley Jones is equally amazing in personality and character,” Garcia said. “Her overall drive to be excellent combined with her passion for the game are contagious. She is someone who comes to us with a great deal of experience in relating to players from her time in both the college and AAU ranks. She has a knack for identifying talent and developing players to compete to win. Building deep relationships everywhere she has been will enable her to be a great recruiting coordinator for us to help bring in players with great talent and character.”
