COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior guard Ashley Mitchell (Navajo Nation) was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday.
Mitchell scored a season-high 27 points in the win against the Cowgirls. It was also the highest point total for a Lady Mustang this season. She posted a season-high nine field goals, making 60 percent (9-15), that included a pair of threes and seven free throws. She added seven rebounds and two assists. Against Northern New Mexico earlier in the week she added 11 points and five rebounds that included a three-pointer, seven assists and a steal.
Mitchell continues to lead WNMU in points per game (13.6), three-pointers (27), field goals (76) and is tied for the team-high in steals with 26. She has started all 17 games this season, averaging 31.1 minutes per contest.
WNMU will play at UC-Colorado Springs this Friday at 5:30 p.m.
