CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men’s basketball team will wear their special turquoise Nike uniforms in their game against Utah at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Gill Coliseum.
The Beavers have partnered with Nike N7 for the past two years and will wear special turquoise Nike uniforms and the special edition Nike N7 Air Max Destiny designed in collaboration with Native American artist Bunky Echo-Hawk like they did in the season opener against CSU Bakersfield. The turquoise color of the Nike uniforms is a distinct departure from Oregon State’s traditional orange and black and is deeply symbolic of friendship and community in Native American culture.
“This year, in conjunction with our N7 initiative, we wanted to include a Pac-12 game,” Oregon State head coachCraig Robinson said. “This initiative is important to me, the team and this program.”
The Utah Utes are a new member of the Pac-12 Conference and will make their first visit to Gill Coliseum since 1983. They are named after the Ute Tribe of Native Americans and the word Ute means “people of the mountains” in their language.
